Andromedia in the Media

Editor. New Media, "Site Analysis Tools Get Serious" November 18, 1996, p40.

The latest site analysis tools tally page downloads and distinct user sessions as well as raw hits, and tame huge log files by using databases to aggregate the information. (See also "Beyond the Hits," page 38) Accrue Insight and Andromedia's Aria system are server-based systems that have their own logging procedures; Net.Genesis' Net.Analysis has a server component that parses the log as it is generated. Accrue is also notable for packet monitoring, which lets it report server response times and user resets (when the user aborts a download). Net.Genesis has a separate service. NetSweep, that polls your Web server from Internet service providers across the country to monitor server performance.

Interse's Market Focus 2, which has been out the longest of these products, has received the stamp of approval from the BPA (Business Publications Audit) and ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations); in other words, you can generate a report that meets their auditing criteria. --L.L.
